Research content -DC/DC converter-

DC/DC converters are power converters that convert a DC voltage into a demanded DC voltage. As small power applications, DC/DC converters are required for mobile devices.

Our themes are following; discontinuous current mode is applied into DC/DC converters in order to reduce the current at light load or to achieve the soft switching. In this method, due to the significant reduction of the conduction loss and the switching loss, the super compact converters with extremely high efficiency can be achieved.

On the other hand, the multilevel topology is applied into the bi-directional isolated DC/DC converters in order to maintain the high efficiency even when the input and output voltages vary widely. Consequently, the converter with low loss over a wide range operation can be achieved.

The validity of these themes is confirmed by experimental results that are obtained by using the prototype circuit. The goal of our laboratory is to achieve the energy saving and space-saving of the power supply system.
